Natural & Human Systems
This unit enables students to understand the world in which they live as a series of interconnected systems. Students are challenged to reflect on the interdependence among natural systems and human systems. This approach – systems thinking – is critical in facilitating a more balanced and sustainable approach to living.
Students become familiar with the various natural and human systems that influence their lives. As well, students will consider issues that influence systems and consider how these issues might be resolved.
Students will apply these ideas to the exploration of selected ecozones in Canada. The understandings and process skills that students develop during this unit are fundamental to inquiry in the social sciences and have great utility in daily living.
